Some fiddling around by the roadside and we are passed by the thundering pack of the main ride. Drat. They disappear in clouds of hazy smoke leaving us to the pleasure of the open road.  First to the brewery for lunch before the cloud of Hazy smoke finds us again.  An amazing mass of gleaming Vincents align like the stars.  Howdy Lone Stars, After 5 days in Ventura through the 16 th , the caravan of Vincents moves up to Cambria for an even bigger event from the 18 th to the 23 rd . Peter, Jonathan and I came up here on the 16 th to get a head start on checking out the beautiful coastal and mountain roads. Monday 18 th , Peter, Jonathan and I rode up north on the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) about 50 miles to the point where the road was closed due to landslides. Weather was perfect, the scenery spectacular, and the traffic light. Mile after mile of 2 lane winding around the cliffs overlooking the Pacific. Wow. Monday night we had the big meet and greet at the hotel, with lots of bench racing and tire kicking in the parking lot afterwards. Lone Stars Corey Levenson, Hollis Lewis, Keith Martin joined the group from Texas, with Dan Farr and Lon McCroskey coming up from Ventura.   Brian Rutherford had a blowout and crash while riding his Shadow from Florida to the International.  Dan Chase sent me the note below about the incident and his rescue by Lone Star Dave Hartner. We wish Brian a speedy recovery and thanks to Dave Hartner for showing the true Lone Star spirit. From Dan Chase: There is one VOC member(Brian Rutherford) who attempted to ride his prized and complete newly  restored 1952 Black Shadow, from Safety Harbor Florida to the International in California, to join you. In between Vernon and Childress Texas, he had a rear tire blow out at about 70 miles per hour. He was unable to keep the Shadow on the road and ended up in a pile in the ditch running along side of the road. The Shadow ended up in better shape than Brian did. When he got to the hospital the doctor discovered two broken ribs. So here is Brian and his son Frank ( riding a later model Triumph) out in the middle of big and wide open Texas.
